The Uniformed Groups at St Andrews are part of the European Scout Federation. The Federation is a traditional scouting organisation aiming to develop the personality and sense of responsibility of young people in a brotherly atmosphere in accordance with the methods laid down by the founder Robert Baden Powell.

All their meetings take place at St Andrew's Church Hall, Longhurst Road.

Otters Aged 5 to 7 Years
The Otter Colony helps young boys and girls prepare themselves for joining Wolf Cubs. It introduces them to the Scout Group and helps them feel part of it; they can develop their abilities by learning and taking part with children of their own age. Otters do a variety of activities, games and craft, helping each other by teamwork and learning a little about the origins of scouting. They are also introduced to working for badges which help them to think, use their own talents and to communicate with others. They begin to understand the meaning of responsibility through making their Promise and being invested.

Otters meet on Tuesdays (term-time) from 5.00pm till 6.00pm

Girl and Boy Cubs Aged 7 to 11 Years
The Cubs work in teams called Sixes lead by a Sixer and a Second. The ceremonies and leader's names are based on creatures in the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The Cubs are encouraged to be clean, punctual and in good spirits and promise to "Do our best" every week once invested. The Cub Law asks them to be helpful every day. In their Pack, Cubs continue with badge-work that will prepare them for joining the Scout Troop.
Girl Cubs meet on Tuesdays from 6.00pm till 7.30pm and Boy Cubs meet on Fridays at the same time.

Girl and Boy Scouts Aged 11 to 16 Years
The Scout Troop is made up of Patrols lead by a Patrol Leader. They try and live according to the law which asks them to be honest, sincere, clean, generous and friendly. Camps and hikes are an important part of their activities together. When ready, the Scouts make their Promise and then they can progress from Tenderfoot to become a Second Class and finally a First Class Scout.
Girl Scouts meet on Tuesdays from 7.45pm till 9.30pm and Boy Scouts meet on Fridays at the same time.
